Degrees in Law and Jobs Available

Degrees in Law and Jobs Available

Law as a system helps regulate and ensure that a community show respect, and equality amongst themselves.

Law is a system of rules that are created and enforced through social or governmental institutions to regulate behavior.

This three-letter word comes into contact with almost every area of daily life, touching upon issues relating to business, economics, politics, the environment, human rights, international relations and trade.

Types of law degrees

Bachelor of Laws
The Bachelor of Laws (Latin: Legum Baccalaureus; LL.B. or B.L.) is an undergraduate degree in law (or a first professional degree in law, depending on jurisdiction) originating in England and offered in Japan and most common law jurisdictions—except the United States and Canada—as the degree which allows a person to become a lawyer.

Juris Doctor Degree
Students who want to practice law in the United States enroll in a Juris Doctor degree program. This degree can be earned after three years of full-time study.

However, many J.D. programs are often combined with other master’s degree programs in a specific facet of law, business or public policy and these programs take longer than three years to complete.

The Juris Doctor degree (J.D. or JD), also known as the Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (J.D., JD, D.Jur. or DJur), is a graduate-entry professional degree in law and one of several Doctor of Law degrees.

Master of Laws – LLM
The LL.M. (Master of Laws) is an internationally recognized postgraduate law degree. It is usually obtained by completing a one-year full-time program.

Law students and professionals frequently pursue the LL.M. to gain expertise in a specialized field of law, for example in the area of tax law or international law.

Many law firms prefer job candidates with an LL.M. degree because it indicates that a lawyer has acquired advanced, specialized legal training, and is qualified to work in a multinational legal environment.

Doctor of Juridical Science or Doctor of Laws
The Doctor of Juridical Science is the highest law degree in the United States and is comparable to the Doctor of Philosophy for most other disciplines.

The Doctor of Juridical Science program is research intensive and students are expected to know their research interests before beginning the application process.

Three Main Law Degrees

The first law degree is the Juris Doctor (J.D.) and qualifies graduates to practice law in the U.S.
The second advanced law degree is the Master of Laws (LL.M.), and the third degree is the Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.).
The S.J.D. is an uncommon law degree only offered by a handful of law schools.
Is there a Phd in law? Doctorate of Philosophy in Law (phd) may be earned individually or as a dual degree, alongside a J.D. degree. If the student is not taking the degree program as a dual degree, he or she may be required to have earned a J.D. in the past and have worked as a lawyer.

How To Escape Pitfalls And Barriers For Successful Interview

How To Escape Pitfalls And Barriers For Successful Interview

Sometimes you may become worried and perplexed about the pitfalls while facing an interview. In this post, I have carefully selected the common but challenging barriers and how you can escape them for a successful interview. Below are some good tips that will really make your interview a fun! Study carefully.

Before going for an interview, make sure you visit the website of the company to gather as much information as you can.

When asked “How much do you want us to pay you?” Don’t say “anything”. Because by saying that, it means you don’t even know your worth perhaps you don’t have a worth and no company is interested in hiring a worthless individual. Rather, when asked such question, just answer this way “This is a reputable company and I am certain that the company has a salary structure commensurate with my qualification and skill”

Do not ask for the phone number of the interviewer(s) at the end of the interview.

Be punctual to the interview venue. If for instance, the interview is to start by 8a.m., make sure you are there thirty minutes before the time. Mind you, time is the soul of every business. So, punctuality matters most.

On entrance to the waiting room, make sure you greet everyone because you may not know who the boss is.

After you are done with the interview, don’t attempt discussing with any applicant waiting for their turn to be interviewed. Note that ‘big brother’ may be watching from afar.

If possible, for men, they should avoid wearing suit to interview especially those of us that are not too used to it. Listen up, wearing a suit perhaps coat that does not fit you makes you appear absurd and irresponsible.

If after one week of your interview, you don’t receive any message from the company, make a return trip to the office for enquiry.

Finally, there is what is known as the stress test; this is actually to try your temperament and patience. You may be told that the interview will start by 9a.m. only for you to stay till 10a.m. and the interview has not yet commenced.

Please on such situations, never complain, react bitterly rather, try and be as much calm and quiet as possible because the big brother is really keeping an eagle eye on you!

Best Ways to Rank in Google, Bing, Yandex, AOL Search Engines

Best Ways to Rank in Google

This is my first post about SEO. One may wonder what this post is doing in an education blog. Its not all that bizarre as i wish to let my readers who are also bloggers optimize their sites and rank well in all search engines.

Some SEO bloggers have really dealt with this topic but some induces fear into their readers. In this post, I will simply show you the skills I adopted to rank high in all search engines.

1. Publish Relevant Content

Publishing Quality content is the number one driver of your search engine rankings. This is really true! It may not matter if that topic has been covered somewhere else on the web.

What you have to do is to bring your own personal but meaningful idea that will add value to your reader. Quality content does not necessarily mean your post must be a million words.

Many bloggers spend their precious time writing for search engine instead of human. Google detests this practice as it does not add any value on the web. You must avoid deceiving your readers because doing so will deter them from revisiting you blog.

Identify a keyword phrase for each page. Think about how your reader might search for that specific page (with phrases like “how to rank high in search engines,” “how to get traffic from search engines,” or “Useful SEO tips”).

Also, you must target some keywords while writing your blog post. Try to repeat these phrases several times throughout the page—once or twice in the opening and closing paragraphs, and two to four more times throughout the remaining content.

Never forget to use bold, italics, heading tags, and other emphasis tags to highlight keyword phrases, but don’t overdo it.

After the Google Penguin update, regularly posted quality content is the recommended method to getting more traffic to your website. Ideally you should post at least 2 new articles per week, more being better, as Google will favour websites with frequently updated material that contains unique and relevant content. And if your website offers good content, other websites will naturally want to link to you as well.

2. Update Your Content Regularly

Always keep your contents fresh by regularly updating them. Regularly updated content sends signals to search engines and is viewed as one of the best indicators of a site’s relevancy.

3. Metadata

When designing your website, each page contains a space between the <head> tags to insert metadata, or information about the contents of your page. If you have a CMS site, the UMC web team will have pre-populated this data for you:

  • Title Metadata

Title metadata is responsible for the page titles displayed at the top of a browser window. It is the most important metadata on your page. For those with a CMS website, the web team has developed an automated system for creating the meta title for each webpage.

  • Description Metadata

Description metadata is the textual description that a browser will use in your page search return. Think of it as your site’s window display—a concise and appealing description of what is contained within, with the goal of encouraging people to enter.

  • Keyword Metadata

Keyword metadata are the search phrases that people type when they want to find your page. You’ll want to include a variety of phrases. However, don’t get greedy: if your list becomes excessive, the browser may completely ignore the data. As a general rule, try to keep it to about 6-8 phrases with each phrase consisting of 1-4 words. A great example would be “computer science degree.”

4. Have a link-worthy site – Back Linking

Focus on creating back links. Avoid using “click here” links, but rather try writing out the name of the destination. For example Use “How to improve website ranking in search engines” as your text link than Click here. Doing so is rich with keywords and will improve your search engine rankings as well as the ranking of the page you are linking to.

5. Use alt tags

Never forget to describe your pictures and video media using alt tags, or alternative text descriptions. They enable search engines to find your page, which is crucial and sometimes in images searches, they will help link back to your real pages.
